On February 11, 2022 we kicked off our MICP INNOVA initiative, through which we will conduct a series of webinars aimed at sharing our knowledge on innovation issues, such as technology transfer, intellectual property, creation and investment in technology-based companies, among others.

The first webinar was entitled "Modifications to the Industrial Property Law: Keys to understand and take advantage of them" and was led by our lawyers Juan Avendaño and Virgilio Topasio. The event was attended by more than 30 people and explained some of the most relevant modifications brought by the so-called "short law" of industrial property from the perspective of technology transfer and the protection of intangible assets of technology-based companies.

For example, Juan and Virgilio explained the new regulations on provisional patents and provided tips on how to take advantage of them. They also discussed the advantages of the new law from the perspective of industrial designs, the new alternatives for the payment of patent filing fees and second decade payments (renewal), the relevance of the amendments to the rules on industrial secrets, that are now commercial secrets, among others.

During the coming months, new free activities will be held in which different topics of interest to entrepreneurs, universities, research centers, investors and the community in general will be addressed.
